His biggest oddity is that he verbalizes sounds and little else. He hunts down street-level superheroes, putting their masks on a mantle. They are hit or miss reads, but do establish Onomatopoeia as an interesting villain just for how odd a character he is. He’s far from a long-standing foe for anyone as Onomatopoeia was created by Kevin Smith and tends to only ever appear in his works. Who’s going to mess with a guy who has both shark teeth and a Voldemort nose? He didn’t have enough oomph character-wise though, just being a fence for criminals rather than anything top tier. There was a time that Rupert Thorne was one of the more well-known gang leaders in Gotham. Instead, he’s introduced and killed in the Batman Eternal series, putting his run as a villain at 15 whole issues. Sometimes it’s the sidekicks, of which Batman has a seemingly innumerable amount. Some of these villains were D-list at best, but it isn’t the bad guys. That will surely be the case with many of the baddies made during the new 52. Many of these end up being villains who were created for small arcs, only to never be seen again. When you’re a character that’s both as popular and as long-standing as Batman, you’re bound to have characters that get forgotten in the annals of time.
